– Prepping and Planning
Do you have an off-season of your horse show season? Living in the Midwest, a large majority of horse events take place from the end of May to early September. Since its basically winter any other time.
While we did just wrap up our official show season not long ago, we are planning ahead for next year and I am making a list of things to replace, add, or update.
Kids outgrow stuff. I’ll be searching for hunt boots for my girls. Both of them will be in need.
I have kept all of my oldest’s hunt seat clothes for my younger daughter, but the tall boots we saved are still a bit big.
Also on the list for my oldest daughter is a showmanship outfit. This spring I was brave and altered the length of her jacket sleeves and pants hems all by myself.
Unfortunately, there isn’t any more material available in the jacket for additional alterations to a larger size. The kid is growing.
There’s decisions and discussions to come regarding this showmanship outfit.
2020 will be the first year for my younger daughter to show, riding independently in the walk trot events. She has previously shown in leadline. To say she’s very excited to join in the family horse showing affair is a bit of an understatement.
I think a new hunt seat saddle is in order for her. She is currently riding in a saddle that’s a bit too large for her and I’d like to get her something a little more her size. I’m hoping a better sized saddle with aid her in developing her balance and seat.
I’m sure my list will grow before between now and then, and even though winter is lllooonnnggg, the next show season will (hopefully) be here before we know it.
What are you planning to buy for your horse next?
